Garden expert to host new TV show

Garden expert Alan Titchmarsh is set to front a new horticulture show for the BBC, which will hit TV screens later this year.
According to Horticulture Week, the presenter revealed that the programme will focus on the impact of large, historic gardens on what growers are doing in modern times.
Titchmarsh is also set to present the BBC coverage of the Chelsea Flower Show in May and suggested that it is important that garden centres engage with the public in order to encourage them to take up their tools and work the earth.
He explained at the opening of the Royal Horticultural Society's Hyde Hall visitor centre that he is attempting to use the new TV programme to link contemporary gardening to that of the past.
"It will focus on four different periods and it will be centred on a garden but with satellite visits to others as well," he revealed.
The expert added that everyone has a part to play in boosting the profile of gardening in the UK and urged those who made a living from the industry to be more proactive in promoting it.
The RHS Chelsea Flower Show takes place from May 25th to 29th and is world renowned for its beautiful and inventive displays.
