Garden enthusiasts could soon have part of their 15 minutes of fame by submitting their secrets to a US website.

Missouri-based online resource Suburban Journals is searching for horticulture fans who are willing to share their knowledge with others.

It is hoping to create a database of information for gardening novices and experts alike that will sit alongside the other advice in its Roots: Your Guide To Local Eating section.

The feature already has information on the latest outdoor classes in the area, as well as a calendar of what farmers' markets are being held where.

Furthermore, it has a number of recipes that focus on including locally grown foods that are in season, which helps the environment and also makes meals taste better.

Participants from Missouri stand a chance of winning cinema tickets for a local picture house, but the website will accept advice from further afield too.

Even those who do not have tips to submit can ask questions, which will be published for other gardening enthusiasts to answer.

Meanwhile, the Royal Horticultural Society is set to host an open day at its Garden Wisley site, which will focus predominantly on pinks and carnations.
