Garden offices can help sell a home
» 14th September 2010 «
Property owners can improve their chances of selling a home by making the exterior and garden more presentable, it has been argued.
Helen Silver of the Property Styling Company said that in today's highly competitive housing market, first impressions are particularly important.
"Buyers eliminate unexciting homes online before they even look in real life, so you need 'kerb appeal' even for images that go on the estate agent's website," she told the Daily Telegraph.
Indeed, Ms Silver advised property sellers to walk around their home as a potential buyer would, peeking around into the garden and over fences to check the state of the garden.
"Above all, make it welcoming and attractive, standing out from the crowd," she said.
Homeowners looking to boost their chances of making a sale might also consider adding a garden office or stylish summer house - features that can also increase the value of a home. According to the Daily Telegraph, more than 50 per cent of homes on sale in the past year failed to sell.
