Brits investing in their gardens should ensure they have adequate insurance to protect their contents in a worst case scenario.
According to moneysupermarket.com, the upcoming bank holiday weekends are likely to see people take steps to upgrade their green spaces and the firm is keen to remind customers that insurance should cover the garden too.
It recently carried out research which found that levels of cover vary greatly between providers, with some giving unlimited protection, while others will pay out just £250.
Head of home insurance Julie Owens said that it is all too easy to forget about garden contents when purchasing cover.
"Whether you have acres of space filled with garden gnomes, a landscaped paradise to enjoy this year or you've forked out for the latest high-tech gas barbecues or patio heaters, the costs can easily run into the thousands," she explained.
Ms Owens added that it is "essential" to take this into consideration as the cost of theft or damage could be catastrophic.
Meanwhile, The Eden Project has invited garden enthusiasts to quiz its experts over a cup of tea this month.
