Australian community brought together by historic log cabin project

A small community in Australia has been brought together by an ambitious log cabin construction project.

The historic log cabin situated in the town of Wyong, New South Wales, has for years served as a popular local landmark and a symbol of the area's logging industry.

However, since over recent years it formed part of a school which the state's Education Board recently closed, it was decided to move the cabin to a new location so that more people could enjoy it.

As such, the Wyong Historical Society managed to bring together dozens of volunteers of all ages to move the cabin log by log to its new home in the grounds of the nearby Alison Homestead, where tourists and locals alike will be able to take in its craftsmanship and sense of history, the local Express Advocate newspaper has reported.

There has been a log cabin in Wyong since as far back as the 1870s, with the Central Coast community one of the oldest in the region.

At the same time, however, it has been reported that one of the most famous log cabins of the American mid-west has been destroyed.

The cabin, on the outskirts of Youngstown, Ohio, which dates back to the 1700s, was destroyed by a fire.
