Couple to add log cabins to dream new French home
» 1st February 2010 «
A couple from Spenborough have realised a ten-year dream by moving to France to live on a campsite that will soon feature log cabins.
Steve and Sharron Mason-Croft sold their business, 'Big Old Doors', and have relocated to an area described as France's answer to the Lake District, the Spenborough Guardian reports.
The couple are now excitedly preparing for the new camping season and are planning to build a number of log cabins to complement the site's existing five chalets.
"We're hoping to be open for May 1st and in our first year we'll stay open until September," Ms Mason-Croft told the newspaper.
"Then, once the log cabins are up - which are really well insulated - we can open all year round."
Ms Mason-Croft also revealed that the couple first discovered the Moulin de la Geneste campsite in 2005 and had been hoping to buy it ever since.
Last week, it emerged that a £1 million redevelopment of a centre for disabled people in Swindon - which includes the construction of a log cabin - has been approved by the local council.
