Garden lovers get say in Somerset renovations

Garden lovers who frequent a Somerset attraction are being asked for their opinions on how renovation work should proceed.

According to the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), the grade II listed Regency Gardens in Chard are in the first stages of a three-year revamp project.

Visitors are being asked for their thoughts on how work should proceed, with head gardener Dave West telling the news provider that the site had become slightly run down recently.

"We have guests and locals whose children and grandchildren have grown up and remember how it was before, so we're trying to involve them to make sure they get a say in what they'd like to see more of," he said.

Work so far has seen a number of man-made lakes drained and 45 years worth of silt removed.

A new ornamental water garden also awaits visitors close to the park entrance and bosses are now looking for ideas as to what to do next.

Meanwhile, the RHS recently hosted its famous Chelsea Flower Show event - just one of a number of exhibitions it holds throughout the summer.
