Brits planning on reinventing their garden landscape this summer may be interested in a competition in a national newspaper.

The Guardian is giving away copies of its gardening columnist Carol Klein's new book Grow Your Own Garden.

The newspaper explained that Ms Klein has "a garden to die for, full of plants grown from scratch".

Readers will be familiar with the various hints and tips offered by the keen horticulture enthusiasts and may already be planning to treat themselves to the publication.

The book explains how many of the expert's own plants were grown from cuttings and seeds, rather than bought from a nursery or garden centre.

It gives advice on cultivating a variety of species in a similar way and teaches how to make cuttings that can be turned into new plants.

There are ten copies available from the Guardian and those wishing to enter should do so on the website by answering a simple question - the answer is in the article above the entry form.

Meanwhile, the Times has revealed that B&Q figures show a rise in the popularity of fruit and vegetable growing.
