Log cabin gets go-ahead for charity in Swindon
» 25th January 2010 «
A log cabin is set to be at the heart of a £1 million centre for disabled people in Swindon, says a report.
According to the Swindon Advertiser, Swindon Borough Council has given planning permission for the centre, which will also have an outdoor play area.
Charity Hop, Ship and Jump will run the centre and will have to raise the money first before construction of the log cabin and other features can go ahead.
Clarrisa Mitchell, a founder trustee of the charity, said: "We are so grateful for the enthusiastic support that we have received from all levels of the council.
"Everybody is very excited by the designs and parents are eager to have the centre open."
The log cabin will be for indoor activities, with a soft play area and sensory rooms, and will be open for six days a week.
The charity, whose mission is to "provide unique, supervised and vital day care and respite with support for parents and carers in a carefree environment where there are no sneers or stares", already has log cabins in Bristol and Cheltenham.
