Log cabins can make gardens fun for children
» 20th August 2010 «
Homeowners can make their gardens particularly suitable spaces for children to enjoy during the summer holidays, it has been suggested.
The Daily Telegraph spoke to homeowner and keen gardener Lucy Redman who explained how she had brought up her two daughters to appreciate the outdoors and their garden.
She noted that at first, the nine and six-year-old girls had been protected from water features by a fence but added that they are now free to investigate the pool and the plant-life that exists around it.
"The girls love pond dipping and floating flowers in the stream surrounded with reeds, pontederia, cotton grass and gunnera," the newspaper commented.
People seeking to make their gardens more child-friendly could also opt to erect a log cabin or stylish summer house. This week, it was reported that an old butterfly house set up by Sir Winston Churchill at his family home in Kent has been renovated by the National Trust.
