Readers of a national newspaper have been told of the delights of staying in a Shropshire log cabin.

The Independent reviewed Annie's Cabin in Ludlow, which is located next to a river and forest and is touted as the "perfect" place to escape for a winter retreat.

As well as the rustic feeling of staying in a log cabin, those who visit also score eco points as the building is built almost entirely of wood - which is a sustainable material - from Douglas fir logs.

A covered veranda allows guests to enjoy fresh air while remaining protected from the elements, while low-energy induction hobs on the cooker and a wood-pellet stove continue the eco theme by providing all the heat required for even the coldest weather.

One double bedroom, a twin room and a double sofa bed mean the log cabin can sleep up to six, while solar panels power the separate shower and bathroom.

Brits who like the idea of spending time in a log cabin can buy their own to act as a summer house in the garden.
