US nature reserve to install log cabins

A nature park in San Diego is embarking on a $450,000 project to install log cabins for its visitors, it has been confirmed.
Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve received official approval last week to press ahead with building three log cabins on pontoon floats in a dock at Lake 7, SignOnSanDiego.com reports.
The 400 sq ft offerings are set to feature beds for six guests at a nightly rate of about $100 and are expected to be completed by the autumn.
Allen Carlisle, director of park and recreation for Padre Dam Municipal Water District - the body which rubber-stamped the plans - believes the log cabins will be an excellent addition.
"We think it will be a popular thing. We think it will open the door to people who don't have RVs," he told the news provider.
The park is also hoping to install seven other prefabricated cabins on a shoreline near the dock, which would offer impressive views of the hills and lakes in the surrounding area.
Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve currently covers 190 acres of land.
