Garden show to feature world s biggest spade
» 2nd September 2010 «
The Birmingham Gardeners' Show is due to host "the world's biggest spade" this weekend, it has been revealed.
Standing at 12 ft in height, the large metal spade will be surrounded by floral bedding as part of the creative displays on show at Kings Heath Park on Saturday and Sunday, the Birmingham Mail reported.
According to the paper, the spade was donated to the show by construction company Building Tools, who made the large replica to mark 230 years of British tool manufacturing.
It was also confirmed that the garden show will feature a special themed display to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.
"The garden has an air-raid warden built from wicker, a replica unexploded bomb, and Anderson shelter, all set within the context of an allotment with potting shed and bedding plants," said the Birmingham Mail.
Meanwhile, it was recently reported that white garden sheds were used as "blank canvases" for the 'Sheds for Art' show at the Woburn ARTBEAT event.
