Gardening site created with help from design firm

Garden owners have a US-based design company to thank for playing a major role in the creation of a horticultural website.

It is claimed that YourGardenShow.com is the first social media site dedicated to growers and their gardens.

Founded by husband and wife couple Tom Finerty and Lisa Marini, the online resource is aimed at allowing gardeners to share their experiences and tips through video, photos and blogs.

Mr Finerty is an Emmy Award-winning producer, while Mrs Marini is a master gardener.

The founders recently praised San Francisco-based software developer Hot and Pivotal Labs for its work to help create the site.

"Hot Studio started from scratch with us and built, brick by brick, a market savvy, easy-to-use, beautiful and intuitive website," Mr Finerty said.

In other news, the Royal Horticultural Society has published figures from the British Beekepers' Association, which show that there has been less of a decline in honeybee numbers this year than in previous years.
