Gold streak continues for Hillier Nurseries

» 28th May 2010 «

A gardening firm has managed to extend its winning streak at the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Chelsea Flower Show to 65 years.

Hillier Nurseries won gold for its Adventures In Gardening centrepiece, with managing director Andy McIndoe praising the efforts of all his staff.

The show, which ends tomorrow (May 29th), went ahead despite a tough winter and spring for UK gardeners, but was heralded as a massive success.

"We had a mighty battle with the elements this spring, and all credit goes to Ricky Dorlay, who brought all his 45 years [of] Chelsea experience to bear in preparing the Hillier plant material," Mr McIndoe said.

The Daily Telegraph was also successful and scooped the Best In Show gong for its display garden.

Visitors to the RHS event tomorrow will be able to buy some of the exhibitors' display products from 16:00 BST.
