Log cabin owners relief at neighbour jail sentenc

» 14th December 2009 «

A retired couple whose life in their dream log cabin home was made an "absolute misery" for years by a neighbour have spoken of how it is the "best Christmas present" they could have wished for to see the man jailed.

Ronald Reeves - a 72-year-old retired builder who has spent the last three decades living in Kingston, Kent - was jailed for 240 days and given an indefinite restraining order that stops him entering the village after subjecting Gordon Baker and his wife to years of torment.

According to the Daily Express, Mr Reeves sold them the land on which to build their log cabin, but later erected a CCTV camera on a pole to spy on them and regularly let his dog relieve itself in their garden.

He also reportedly hurled abuse at the couple for no apparent reason and Mr Baker explained to the newspaper that it was a relief to see him locked up.

"He may look like a bespectacled old gentlemen but, in reality, his behaviour has proved he is a nasty man and he turned our lives into absolute misery," he said.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mirror recently reviewed Alton Towers' Santa Sleepover, where guests get to visit Saint Nicholas in his log cabin home.
