Log house could be a focal point for Halloween family fun
» 4th October 2010 «
Families can enjoy a host of Halloween-related activities without having to leave their homes, TheSchoolRun.com has said.
Camilla Chafer, acting editor of the parenting website, noted that as the days draw in and the weather takes a turn for the worst, Halloween is an important event for families to look forward to.
"I would never recommend young children go out alone for trick or treating, but there are still plenty of ways that children can enjoy the day," she added.
People looking to create dedicated areas for home-based family activities should consider investing in a log house or log cabin for their garden. Ms Chafer suggested "making witches hats, carving pumpkins and having a spooky movie night" as possible options for creating Halloween fun at home.
She also claimed that Halloween no longer has to take on a macabre undertone and can instead simply be an enjoyable family occasion.
The news comes after Tesco recently announced that Halloween has overtaken Valentine's Day in terms of popularity in-store, with related sales almost trebling since 2005.
