Suffolk to get holiday log cabins

» 20th January 2010 «

Suffolk Coastal District Council has approved a plan to build a number of log cabins near Halesworth.

A dozen log cabins will be built to act as holiday homes, while toilet facilities, a shop and pitches for 15 touring caravans will also be installed at the New Farm site in Wenhaston, the Beccles and Bungay Journal reported.

The council allayed fears that the log cabins could be used as second homes by writing it into the deal that they must only be used for holiday purposes and that no caravan can remain on the site for more than 56 days.

Located near an area of outstanding natural beauty, the site is expected to bring both jobs and tourists to Suffolk, Wenhaston Parish Council chairman Bernard Orme told the newspaper.

"We only have one pub in the village - which we very nearly lost at the beginning of last year - but now seems to be doing very well. Hopefully [the log cabins] will bring a little more economic activity," he said.

Meanwhile, a new all-inclusive log cabin holiday resort is set to open in the US state of Idaho.ADNFCR-2848-ID-19568458-ADNFCR
