Tomato growing advice

A US gardening expert has given would-be growers some tips on how to grow their own food.
Byron Chitwood grew up on his grandparents' farm, where they only ate what was taken from their own land, except for some salt and pepper bought for seasoning.
The Hunt County Master Gardener Association president recently told Country World that tomatoes will always be a favourite thing to grow, as they are tasty and good for you.
He gave a few hints and tips on how to get the best out of the fruit, which is fairly easy to grow.
"The requirements to grow good tomatoes are well-drained soil, proper fertilisation, room for growth, just tender love and care, proper watering, pest control and timely harvesting," he told the website.
Mr Chitwood added that a soil test can be useful for those growing their own food as it will point out any deficiencies that need looking into.
