Trainees build large gazebo for school grounds

Trainees on a construction skills course in Birmingham have built an impressive range of outdoor furniture and buildings for a local school.

Teenagers enrolled at Enta, Birmingham's oldest training organisation, built the items for St Michael's Church of England Primary School in Bartley Green according to designs and ideas submitted by its pupils, 24dash.com reported.

According to the website, picnic benches, seats and a large gazebo were all constructed by the 16 to 19-year-olds at Enta's Aston workshop, before they were transported to the school and assembled in its grounds.

The project was made possible thanks to donations from Bovis Lend Lease and the Creative Partnerships programme, as well as from the school's own funds.

Such donations paid for a designer to translate the children's ideas into blueprints and for materials and labour for the Enta trainees.

St Michael's head teacher Sam Cosgrove said: "Giving a group of young trainees a real-life opportunity was most rewarding and pupils, parents and staff are all really pleased with the furniture."
