Eco-pods go on show at Clarence House garden
» 7th September 2010 «
A special line of "eco-pods" will go on show at the Prince of Wales' environmental garden party this week, it has been reported.
According to bdonline.co.uk, the pods are designed to offer a sustainable future to the 4,500 disused field barns in the Yorkshire Dales National Park which require economic reuse to protect them from dereliction.
The Feildbarn eco-pods can be erected inside the historic barns to create a type of holiday accommodation like a summer house without damaging the overall structure.
Matt Somerville from the Feildbarn team said: "We look forward to being able to use the garden party as a platform for showing environmentalists and heritage experts alike - as well as the general public - how versatile the concept is, and how local farmers - and the wider community - can benefit."
The Feildbarn eco-pods have already been used as a case study in the Prince's Regeneration Trust's recently published Green Guide for Historic Buildings, bdonline.co.uk said.
