Garden summer house owners warned to secure buildings

Those with garden summer houses or other buildings in their backyard have been advised to ensure they properly secure their properties.
Insurance firm Aviva warned that in the months leading into summer, thefts of gardening equipment such as forks, rakes and petrol hedgetrimmers increase.
Jonathan Cracknell, household underwriter at Aviva, commented: "We would urge all homeowners to make sure their sheds and summer houses are properly secured."
He added that it is important to clear up any items from the lawn each evening because they could prove too tempting for opportunistic thieves.
Top tips provided by the firm included locking garden summer houses and sheds and insuring any valuable items kept in buildings such as garden offices - for example mini televisions or computers.
In an article for the Guardian last month, Dawn Isaac suggested purchasing dual-function furniture - such as seating with storage underneath - to help save space in a garden office.
