Gardens to be upgraded with ÂGBP13m grants

Garden owners around the country can expect to find inspiration at six horticultural attractions that are to benefit from millions of pounds of upgrades.
The sites have been handed £13 million of cash from the Big Lottery Fund and the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) revealed.
One of the main benefactors will be Victoria Park in London's Tower Hamlets, which will receive £4.5 million from the handouts.
Founded by Queen Victoria in the 1840s, the green space was the result of a petition from 30,000 East End residents asking for more open land in the crowded area.
It is now set to provide new facilities for the public in the shape of a skate park and urban beach, while historic features such as the English Garden, Chinese bridge and pagoda are to be renovated.
Not only will "Vicky Park" provide inspiration to local gardeners, it will be used in the 2012 Olympic Games as a walking course for athletes.
In other news, the RHS revealed that not even the cold winter could stop it displaying an array of beautiful flowers at its Daffodil Show, which took place yesterday and today (April 13th and 14th).
