Historic Enfield garden receives prestigious award

» 30th July 2010 «

A beautiful garden in Enfield has been recognised for its historic qualities with a prominent title - news which may interest summer house owners in the area.

Myddleton House Gardens, which is located in Lee Valley Regional Park, has been handed Green Heritage Site status after the completion of considerable restoration work at the site over the past year.

Bryan Hewitt, a senior gardener at the estate, explained in an interview with the Enfield Independent that the award is a tribute to the new head gardener, Andrew Turvey.

"We are all very motivated and happy in our work and this award is a reflection of that," he told the news provider.

"[Mr Turvey] has achieved an enormous amount. He has restored much of the garden back to the original design and even found pathways in the alpine meadow that we didn't know existed."

Earlier this week, it emerged that a special garden dedicated to the memory of legendary former England manager Sir Bobby Robson will be erected in Newcastle.
