Orsett residents to welcome summer house enthusiasts
» 8th July 2010 «
Residents in Orsett are set to open up their gardens to visitors for the tenth year running this weekend.
In news which may interest summer house owners in the region, members of the Orsett in Bloom club have confirmed that they will be holding their Gardens Open Day on Sunday (July 11th).
Free minibus travel will be available for anyone who wants to see the projects, while there will also be charity stalls, refreshments, fresh produce and live music, the Yellow Advertiser reports.
"It's always a great day out when we try to show our village at its best," Frances Shaddock, secretary of Orsett in Bloom, told the news provider.
"It gives us the chance to illustrate the generosity of residents who open their gardens and gives us a chance to show off the 15 projects we've created and now maintain."
The group has enjoyed huge success in recent years, winning the Gold Award and Best Large Village Award from 2005 to 2008, while also being nominated for the Britain in Bloom Award in 2007 and 2008.
Meanwhile, it was confirmed earlier this week that Marine Cove Gardens in Burnham-on-Sea will be restored after receiving funding of more than £350,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the local council.
