TV show lacks gardening tips

» 7th April 2010 «

Brits who enjoy the gardening lifestyle may enjoy The Edible Garden, but are unlikely to pick up many hardcore horticulture tips, it has been claimed.

According to the Daily Mirror's Jane Simon, the BBC 2 programme could leave committed growers feeling "bemused".

While there are still some hints to be found, the focus of the show is more likely to have viewers contemplating buying similar clothes to its host than raring to get out into their green space and get their hands dirty, she suggested.

"It's more about lifestyle as we get black and white clips of summers, cutesy animation and costume changes," Ms Simon explained.

Tonight's (April 7th) episode sees presenter Alys Fowler focusing on peas and beans before introducing viewers to her new chickens and calling in a friend to make plant supports from weaved twigs.

In other news, the Royal Horticultural Society has created a new mobile phone application to help garden lovers decide which fruit and vegetables to grow.ADNFCR-2848-ID-19708424-ADNFCR
