Bristol music festival to debut garden gazebos

Garden gazebos are often the perfect place for a shady summer picnic, and while normally the preserve of gardens, an African thatched gazebo could soon be making its way to a music festival near you.

Setting the trend is the Summer Nights festival at Bristol's Ashton Court, which will take place between July 8th-10th this year, the Evening Post reports.

The event hopes to attract 4,000 people each night, with organisers aiming to plug a gap in the city's music scene by featuring classical, motown and tribute bands.

A gazebo village will be a central feature of the festival, allowing summer picnics to go ahead regardless of the weather.

With Glastonbury only a few miles down the road, perhaps organisers will realise the potential of a thatch gazebo as a more civilised way to shelter from bright sunshine or showers.

Stephen McManus, the festival's promoter, told the newspaper that many people are looking to open-air concerts at this time of year.

"It's a great location and a vibrant city and fantastic that we can have a concert in the centre," he commented.

The Bristol Festival is also being organised in the city, with last year's event featuring more than 2,000 performers.
