» 13th May 2010 «
A website belonging to a renowned retailer has been named the UK's top online resource for home and garden products.
Horticulture Week revealed that B&Q's diy.com received the most hits out of all its competitors in the week leading up to May 1st.
The statistics from Experian Hitwise showed that the site managed to take an 8.46 per cent market share - almost double that of its nearest competitor homebase.co.uk, which had 4.97 per cent.
Meanwhile, Swedish furniture store Ikea's website managed 3.33 per cent of traffic in the sector, with wickes.co.uk taking 2.67 per cent.
Mothercare.com, focusdiy.co.uk, wilkinsonplus.com and matalan.co.uk were also listed in the top ten.
Diy.com offers users a mix of products and advice, with sections offering tips from other customers, as well as expert hints from the likes of Alan Titchmarsh.
It is currently offering up to 30 per cent off selected outdoor furniture and barbeques, meaning garden fans can get all set for summer without bursting the bank.
