Garden furniture brings the living room outdoors

A range of new garden products have been praised for bringing the feel of the living room outdoors.

The recent Spoga Gafa trade show, which was held in Cologne between September 5th-7th, saw a jury of experts select their "top ten garden products" from various innovative new items, the Independent reported.

These include "Cloud" - an upholstered but 100 per cent waterproof sofa and table set by Gloster as well as the "Tortuga Tobacco" outdoor armchair by Munchener Boulevard Mobel GmbH.

"A reccurring theme in the jury's list was that of 'the lounge outside' - innovative and chic products that were comfortable as well as functional and gave gardens the feel of a living room," observed the paper.

This trend towards bringing home comforts outdoors can also be seen in the popularity of thatched gazebos and other garden buildings. Meanwhile, Christopher Howse of the Daily Telegraph recently claimed that the humble garden shed continues to hold a certain romance among men.
