Gardeners to have wet holiday weekend
» 30th April 2010 «
British homeowners dreaming of spending the holiday weekend enjoying glorious sunshine in their garden may have their hopes dashed.
The weather over the weekend is set to be far short of spectacular with the April showers continuing into May.
According to the Met Office, Brits should expect a changeable weekend with a little sunshine, a fair amount of rain and perhaps even some thunderstorms.
Today's (April 30th) weather will set the tone for the May holiday, with bright, dry weather in the morning chased away by rain in the afternoon.
Saturday will follow a similar pattern, with a dry start ruined by cloudy skies pushing in from the north that will bring heavy and prolonged rainfall.
Those north of the border will experience dry and bright weather for the most part, but might wish to layer up as temperatures will be lower.
This will be the theme in most places for Monday, which will bring drier, colder weather.
Gardeners looking for inspiration could head to the Royal Horticultural Society's Great London Garden Trail, which takes place on Monday.
