Manchurians set for new green space

Manchurians are set to benefit from a multi-million pound partnership between the Northwest Regional Development Agency and the Forestry Commission.
Known as Newlands, the £59 million initiative aims to transform disused industrial wasteland into a haven for wildlife and the public, the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) reported.
The scheme is now set to target the Moston Brook area of Manchester, where £4.9 million will be used to redevelop its 71 hectares.
It is just one of a number of sites to be targeted by Newlands, including Town Lane, Brickfields, Belfield, Bidston Moss and Brockholes.
The organisers hope that the move will put an end to antisocial behaviour in the area and provide local residents with a green space that they can enjoy.
Meanwhile, the RHS has published a video on laying new lawn from seed or turf on the homepage of its website.
The online resource offers a host of useful advice for those looking to redevelop their garden.
