New garden centre could help Carlisle gazebo owner
» 24th November 2009 «
Brits living near Carlisle could soon have a new multi-million pound garden centre at which to source plants and ornaments to decorate their green space.
It could be good news for those planning on installing a garden office or thatched gazebo as the £10 million Dobbies Garden Centre could provide inspiration for completing the landscape.
According to Horticulture Week, plans have been approved in principle by local councillors, but must now be referred to the government office for the north-west due to the development's status as a large out-of-town retail site.
"We are delighted at the support the council has given our proposals and are very much looking forward to trading in Carlisle," Dobbies director of property and development Stuart Write told the news provider.
He added that the company foresees no major problems with the referral of the plans to the government office.
If approved, work would begin on the centre in summer 2010, with the facility being open before the end of next year.
Meanwhile, the news provider also revealed that Webbs Garden Centres is to open a branch at Garden Organic's Ryton Gardens.
