Nursery s gazebos under threat

A nursery that was given a £20,000 grant from its local council to build two gazebos and improve its garden has been told by the same authority that it might have to tear the structures down.

Tinkerbells Day Nursery in Ashton, Preston, built the garden gazebos to allow its 64 children to play outside, but complaints from someone in the local area led to the council demanding they were demolished, lep.co.uk revealed.

However, local councillor Bill Tyson sympathised with the nursery and urged planners to give it a reprieve until planning permission can be applied for.

The facility's management must now hope that they can secure the go-ahead to keep the gazebos or see them go to waste.

Nursery manager Donna Birch lamented the fact that the public would complain after the building was left derelict until 2002.

"Lancashire County Council gave us the grant to do the work and make the provision better for the children and now, they're telling us to take them down so it seems like a waste of money," she told the online resource.

Meanwhile, Cambridge News has revealed that a gazebo will be used to shelter kids as they get to meet Santa Claus at the local Christmas carnival.
