Playgroup targeted by thieves
» 28th January 2010 «
A playgroup which won praise from inspectors after taking on new staff, erecting a gazebo and changing its curriculum has been targeted by criminals.
Thieves ransacked the St Augustine's Playgroup in Matson, stealing a digital camera, a jar of cash and an empty money box, the Citizen revealed.
The offenders smashed windows and alarms before going through the drawers and cupboards of the cash-strapped nursery.
Committee chair Emma Jeffery told the newspaper that the thieves had gained entry by breaking a glass window.
"I don’t know why they did it, there’s nothing here worth stealing and they should know that," she said. "It is a playgroup after all, what do they expect?"
It is the second time in as many months that vandals have attacked the site.
Meanwhile, hoteldesigns.co.uk has commented on the new thatched gazebo that makes up the centrepiece of the newly renovated Damar Terrace restaurant in the Ayana Resort and Spa in Bali, Indonesia.
