Reward offered for witnesses of gazebo damage
» 16th December 2009 «
The ripping down of a gazebo in a Watford park recently has led to a reward being offered to any witnesses who spotted the vandals in action, the Watford Observer reports.
Thousands of pounds of damage was caused by the hooligans as they ran amok in Leavesden Country Park late last month, with the police having few leads to go on in catching the culprits, despite carrying out door-to-door enquiries.
The lack of an incident report being submitted on the evening of the act has led Crimestoppers to put up a reward of £550 for individuals providing valuable information leading to an arrest.
Alongside the damage caused to the gazebo at the Abbots Langley location, the destruction carried out by those involved also led to fences being broken, signs being wrecked and trees being tampered with.
Furthermore, the publication recently noted that drunken yobs were suspected of carrying out the acts after empty beer cans were found in the area.
Meanwhile, a neighbourhood forum is being set up to provide residents with the opportunity to quiz police and council staff about methods to prevent further damage occurring.
