Schools install gazebos
» 27th November 2009 «
Pupils at a school in Cheshire are to benefit from a wooden gazebo in the grounds, it has been revealed.
St Matthew's Primary School will use the structure as an outdoor classroom, allowing youngsters to change the way they learn, while being protected from the sun and rain.
According to ThisisCheshire.com, the £7,000 improvement is part of investment in the school's equipment following a year of fundraising activity.
Chairman of the board of governors Andrew Pemberton told the website that the Parent Teacher Association had held events such as Christmas stalls and non-uniform days to raise the cash, while a summer fair helped achieve around half of the total.
Earlier this month, the Bristol Evening Post revealed that Charborough Road Primary School had used the £14,000 it acquired from fundraising events last year to buy a gazebo and another outdoor shelter.
A fireworks event for Bonfire Night was held on November 6th and the school was hoping to use it to raise a further £1,500.
