A garden centre in Worcestershire has announced plans to donate £5,000 of spring flowering bulbs to charitable causes.

Webbs garden centre in Wychbold said it would give away 50 selection boxes of bulbs, such as daffodils, to suitable applicants, the Droitwich Spa Advertiser reported.

The centre revealed that the first 50 suitable applicants to email bulbs@webbsofwychbold.co.uk by Saturday, December 4th would receive the bulbs.

According to the newspaper, applications are welcome from charities, schools and other sites used by children and youth groups, as well as from nursing and care homes and for public spaces in Worcestershire.

Homeowners and organisations aiming to improve garden areas could also opt to invest in attractive garden buildings like summer houses and log cabins.

The garden centre's executive chairman Ed Webb said: "We want to bring a bright start to 2011 for people so they can create stunning displays for next spring.

"There is still time to plant them in borders or containers to make a great impact. It's an early Christmas present which will reveal its true glory next year."
