A London police team is using a log cabin as its festive base this Christmas.

The team of a sergeant and four constables have set up the log cabin underneath Hungerford Bridge on the South Bank in Lambeth to help them perform their duties during the Cologne Christmas Market, london-se1.co.uk reported.

According to the website, the officers will use the log cabin as a base from which to patrol the area in and around the market, which runs until December 23rd.

People can also visit the cabin for general crime prevention and counter-terrorism advice.

"This is an ideal opportunity for the local community to come and meet their designated team," commented Sergeant Paul Neal.

"The crime prevention advice we are giving out is freely available to all."

News of the initiative comes after 24dash.com recently reported that trainees on a construction skills course in Birmingham have built an impressive range of outdoor furniture and buildings for a local school.
