A special multi-functional log cabin has been set up as part of a new "rural resource centre" in East Anglia.

The centre has been established at Clinks Care Farm in Toft Monks, near Beccles, which is running a pilot project to allow GP-referred patients with mental health problems the opportunity to use the farm environment to aid their recovery by improving confidence, self-esteem and motivation, EDP24.co.uk reported.

According to the website, the farm is being managed as a social enterprise by Doeke Dobma and his wife Iris, while South Norfolk MP Richard Bacon and Norfolk County Council chairman Tony Tomkinson were present at the centre's official opening.

The new log cabin offers people who are referred to the centre the opportunity to learn skills in horticulture, agriculture, IT and healthy cooking while the centre as a whole allows people to get involved in a wide range of agricultural tasks including growing fruit and vegetables and caring for livestock.

The centre cost a total of £90,000 with funds coming from various sources such as the Rural Development Programme for England.
