A holiday company is aiming to build a log cabin "village" in woodland in Hampshire, it has been revealed.

Forest Holidays has submitted a new planning application to Winchester City Council for the project which would see 60 holiday log cabins built in Micheldever Woods, the Hampshire Chronicle reported.

According to the newspaper, Forest Holidays has claimed that the project will boost employment in the local area while also opening up the woods for more people to enjoy.

However, some residents have expressed concern that the scheme could spoil the peace and tranquillity of the woodland.

The council is due to rule on the application by March 30th.

News of the project comes after the Guardian recently rated what it regards as the ten best log cabin breaks in the UK.

Among them was The Lodge at Eden Hall in Cumbria, which is located in a secluded spot on the banks of the river Eamont.
