A landscaping specialist and TV personality has won a major award for an innovative home garden design.

Mitch Westwood, who lives in Brocton, picked up a British Association of Landscape Industries award after creating "a South African and Brazilian-inspired oasis" garden at the holiday home of Moneysupermarket.com entrepreneur Simon Nixon, the Staffordshire Newsletter reported.

Mr Westwood has appeared on the BBC's Rogue Traders and Watchdog programmes where he casts his expert eye over works carried out by suspect traders.

According to the news source, the 56-year-old has been in high demand among wealthy individuals and celebrities since becoming a judge for the RHS.

Commenting on his award-winning garden design, Mr Westwood said: "The fact that my client is delighted with the result is brilliant, but I'm pleased that my peers in the industry have decided the project is worthy of one of the most important national awards in the industry."

Homeowners seeking to improve garden spaces could also choose to invest in stylish garden buildings like a log cabin or summer house.
