A holiday resort in Wales is investing £1 million in a new log cabin development as it looks to take advantage of a rise in domestic tourism.

Penrhos Golf and Country Club at Llanrhystud near Aberystwyth plans to erect ten luxury log cabins, ranging between two and three bedrooms, for holiday let, Wales Online reported.

At present, the park already has 135 caravan holiday homes, golf courses, a driving range, clubhouse and leisure complex, as well as a 15-bed hotel.

Speaking to the website, Rowland Rees-Evans, co-owner of the club, said that today's holidaymakers expect "five star luxury at three star prices".

"The level of customer expectation has risen markedly over the past five years," he said.

"Hopefully, the new log cabins development will take us up to the next level, while providing work for local contractors. We are expecting more people to holiday in the UK next year as foreign travel becomes even more expensive."
