More Log Houses Articles A London-based journalist has extolled the virtues of staying in a Norwegian log cabin on holiday.
London Evening Standard writer Carl Thompson took part in a Nordic Challenge break organised by a team of former military men and wilderness experts.
His trip involved sampling cross-country skiing, a ride on a husky-pulled sledge and an ill-fated attempt at tobogganing.
Mr Thompson explained that the effort involved in cross-country skiing took him by surprise and left him feeling exhausted and glad to get back to the log cabin accommodation.
"It's time to flop, cheeks burning, in a ridiculously cosy log cabin complete with open fire, and get to know the seven other members of my group," he wrote.
The holiday also included a trip to Lauvasen, where the group were taught how to properly drink linie aquavit - a flavoured potato-based spirit.
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail has reported on a YouTube video of a cat taking on a bear that wandered onto the veranda of a log cabin in Canada.
