More Summer Houses Articles Homeowners will increasingly look to use their gardens for communal gatherings this year, an expert has predicted.
Offering his forecasts for gardening trends in 2011, Garden Centres Association chairman Dennis Espley suggested that barbecues will retain their popularity among British homeowners this year.
Speaking to Horticulture Week, he said that there will be "continued interest in outside heating and eating - a good value way to enjoy time with friends and family, rather than eating out". A stylish garden building such as a summer house or log cabin could offer a particularly good place for hosting such gatherings.
Other experts to offer insights about the coming year included Taylor's Bulbs director Adam Taylor, who revealed that he has been selling a record number of dahlia bulbs this winter.
He told the magazine that dahlias and other small flowering bulbs are growing in popularity "because they can fill so much of the colour spectrum and are good value for money".
