Roofing Products
We use cape reed tiles, made from best quality cape thatching reed, as an alternative to traditional thatching. Natural reed tiles have been expertly woven and bound together. This time proven process not only produces an authentic roof that looks great, but most importantly it provides a waterproof surface that will last for 7-10 years and requires no maintenance. Cape reed tiles are versatile, quick and easily installed without specialist knowledge.
Whilst all Beach Hut products are built to the highest standards and come with a comprehensive guarantee, thatched roof tiles will weather over time - see below (right picture are weathered tiles)
Reed tiles will last for a period of 7 to 10 years and will require no maintenance. If necessary, replacement tiles and top cones can be purchased individually for self installation.
Installation Requirements
It is essential to the installation of your building that the following guidelines are followed.
It is crucial that the site upon which your building is to be based is stable, sound, and level across its entirety. Whether you utilise an existing area or construct a new base we recommend you enlist the services of a reputable and qualified building contractor to ensure the area conforms to our requirements.
We regret that if the site is not on firm ground, stable and completely level it will not be possible to construct the building and additional charges will be applicable.
Your Beach hut can be installed onto a new or existing patio constructed using either concrete, brick, paving or decking.
Whichever material you choose to use it is essential that the site is at least the size suggested for your particular building. It is important to note that the structure of the building is circular and the supporting posts extend slightly further than the base.

Caring for the Environment
Beach Hut Leisure products are manufactured using natural timber and thatch to blend with your individual garden environment.
All timber is sourced from suppliers adopting responsible forestry practices and our supplier has successfully passed the accreditation programme of the Forestry Stewardship Council, which recognises and applauds excellence in responsible forest management, globally.
The thatched roof, made from Cape Reed, is cut when it reaches maturity at 5-7 years. This process encourages the plant to grow and is harvested again and again.
Maintenance Recommendations
Each element of your Beach Hut is finished and preserved to the highest standard.
The thatched roof is a natural product and requires no maintenance. The tiles age and weather to a natural brown colour and rarely require replacement.
The main structure of the building is pressure treated and soaked with a comprehensive wood preserver.
To keep your Beach Hut looking as stunning as the day it was installed we recommend the use of a good quality wood preserver every year, such as Ronseal Multi Purpose Wood Preserver, Call 0114 2409469 for Stockists.
An alternative product would be Cuprinol Garden Wood Preserver or Cuprinol Shed and Fence Preserver. Available from most major Garden and DIY outlets.
Please note: Colours may vary from product to product, we therefore recommend a test to match your existing colour, both manufacturers have clear and alternative shades.
