A new woodland attraction on Guernsey, which features a gazebo, is set to be completed early.

According to the Guernsey Press, the Herm's Woodland Walk and Valley Project is expected to be ready in early 2010, almost two years ahead of schedule.

Head gardener Brett Moore revealed that around 80 per cent of the "hard landscaping" is in place and explained a number of sycamore saplings will be planted in the coming weeks.

"There will be a gazebo for guests and we will have gardening news and bird sightings and things like that," he told the newspaper.

Mr Moore is planning a trip to South Africa this winter and revealed that many of the plant choices could be inspired by his break.

However, he added that the pond area will feature an array of natural British plants and flowers.

Guernsey is one of the Channel Islands located between England and France. Its capital is St Peter's Port - a busy harbour town full of restaurants, boutiques and bistros.
