More Thatched Gazebos Articles MP for Hendon Matthew Offord has shown his support for keeping a garden gazebo from being taken down.
He presented a petition to the mayor of Barnet, signed by locals hoping to save the gazebo, which forms part of the Sunny Hill Cafe, local newspaper the Times Series reports.
According to the council, the gazebo, which is used by park goers and their pets, is built "beyond the agreed boundary" of cafe owner Eytan Grunberg's planning permission agreement.
Over 700 people have signed the petition, with local residents claiming that the structure is a valuable asset to the park.
Jeff Lloyd, who uses the gazebo, told the news provider: "The gazebo is an all round boom to the community - everyone loves it and it would be against all common sense to get rid of it."
Mr Grunberg has reapplied for planning permission, which would extend the existing boundary.
Homeowners with their own garden space could find that a thatched gazebo is an attractive addition to their outdoor area and allows them to enjoy their grassy space.
