More Thatched Gazebos Articles A passion for gardening among green-fingered Britons will fuel success in the industry, new research shows.
According to Verdict, the DIY and gardening market will be worth £12.9 billion by 2014, a 2.1 per cent rise on 2010.
Broken down, the gardening sector will experience 5.6 per cent of growth over the period, while fewer people will remain as interested in DIY.
"Gardening continues to capture the imagination of consumers; at the same time consumers have lost interest in DIY, and are less willing to invest in their homes," said Malcolm Pinkerton, senior analyst at Verdict.
"Attention is increasingly being shifted from inside our homes to outside. This has been fuelled by the aging population as well as the rise in the popularity of 'grow your own'."
The research highlighted the growing interest in energy saving and the study could also symbolise greater interest from people with gardens to purchase outdoor structures such as African thatched gazebos or summer houses. People could also find that such features increase the value to their home.
