Garden planning important for all sizes

Regardless of the size of the green space, a certain level of garden design should be taken into account, it has been claimed.

According to the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), the smaller the garden, the more important it is to plan properly.

The location of the garden should also be a consideration, with plans likely to be influenced by the surrounding buildings and availability of natural light.

Small town gardens may be shaded by neighbouring houses or trees, while large country gardens usually require some blending with the surrounding landscape.

"This is most easily achieved by camouflaging the fence with planting to give the impression that it merges with the view," the RHS suggested.

Another way would be to lower the fence to make it less visible from the building, while those that would prefer to hide the view could utilise a pergola, shrubs or trees.

In other news, the RHS recently revealed that seed merchant Thompson & Morgan has completed its buy-out of food firm Chempak.ADNFCR-2848-ID-19603127-ADNFCR
